Where the eSIM works: 38 countries in Europe

One eSIM profile, 38 countries, unlimited data. There is no per-country plan to pick and nothing to switch on when you cross a border — the same allowance and the same expiry date follow you the whole way.

Included: the 8 countries outside the EU roaming zone

Plans sold as “Europe” usually stop at the EEA border. These 8 lie past it and are all part of this plan — which is exactly where a second eSIM would otherwise be needed.

  • Canary Islands

    Included

Politically part of Spain, but a separate coverage area for most operators, so “Spain” does not always include the islands.

  • Holy See (Vatican City State)

    Included

Its own telecoms jurisdiction inside Rome.

  • Moldova (Republic of)

    Included

    Outside the EU roaming zone.

  • Northern Cyprus

    Included

A separate mobile market from the Republic of Cyprus and not covered by EU roaming, so plans that list “Cyprus” often mean only the south. Both halves work here.

  • Serbia

    Included

    Outside the EU roaming zone.

  • Switzerland

    Included

Never was in the EU roaming zone — Swiss roaming is normally billed separately.

  • Turkey

    Included

With plans sold as “Europe” you would normally need a second eSIM for Turkey, because they stop at the EEA border. Here it is part of the same plan.

  • United Kingdom

    Included

Left the EU roaming zone with Brexit and is excluded from a number of EU-only plans.

Questions people ask

Does the eSIM work in Turkey?
Yes. Turkey is one of the 38 countries included, and it is included in the same plan as the rest of Europe — you do not need a second eSIM when you travel on from Greece or Bulgaria. Turkey is outside the EU roaming zone, which is why plans sold as “Europe” frequently leave it out.
Do I need a separate eSIM for each country?
No. One profile covers all 38 countries. Crossing a border costs nothing extra and there is nothing to switch on or activate on arrival — the phone reselects a local network by itself.
Is Northern Cyprus included?
Yes. Northern Cyprus is a separate mobile market from the Republic of Cyprus and is not covered by EU roaming, so most plans that list “Cyprus” only cover the south. Both are included here.
Are the Canary Islands included?
Yes. The Canary Islands are politically part of Spain but a separate coverage area for most operators, so “Spain” does not automatically include them. They are listed separately here for that reason.
Does it work in the United Kingdom and Switzerland?
Yes, both. Neither is in the EU roaming zone — the UK left it with Brexit and Switzerland was never in it — so both are commonly excluded from EU-only plans.
What happens when I cross a border?
Nothing you have to do. The plan is a single regional profile rather than 38 stitched-together country plans, so the allowance, the price and the expiry date stay the same wherever you are.
